A post ALL about Tristan (imagine that)

First... It has come to my attention that not all of you have experienced the quite memorable experience of watching me feed Tristan. Without having seen this you may not understand what I mean when I say "he fights the bottle". So, prepare yourself... you may want a box of tissues:

video

He does this ALMOST every single time I feed him, and has ever since we brought him home from the hospital. The Docs all say it is a combination of two things. 1. His acid reflux irritates his throat making swallowing uncomfortable. 2. He may have a hypersensitive gastrocolonic reflex (the reflex that makes babys and puppies poop when they eat) that causes him discomfort and anxiety.
So, now you can understand and sympathize when I say I am having a rough feeding day :)

Next: Tristan is wanting to try more solid foods so I bought those wheel crackers (ya I know they are for 9 months and older) and I have a bunch of cute pics of him trying them out.

And finally, I have a little something I wrote that makes me laugh...

You know you have a child with GERD when….

You’ve spent over 500$ in one month on formula alone
The pharmacist knows you by name

You have a party scheduled for the date that prevacid has a generic available
The pediatric gastroenterologist has a picture of you, your husband and your child on his cell phone
You know ALL of the nurses names at the pediatricians’ office
You have fired at least two pediatricians for saying, “he looks healthy, all babies cry and spit up” (but my baby cries 7 hours a day and refluxes ten times in ten minutes and wakes up every forty five minutes)

You know how to get rid of the hiccups
You have a drawer FULL of homeopathic and herbal “colic” remedies that DON’T work
You still haven’t had a baby sitter because every time someone “auditions” for the part of bottle feeder they give in after two ounces of screaming and fighting.
If one more person tells you, “oh he looks so healthy” or, “hun, your just worrying too much” or, “that’s why I breastfed” you might go postal.
You can tell an “I’m tired” suck from an “I’m hungry” suck and you know a “I just swallowed a mouth full of acidy throw up” gulp from a “I just want to cuddle” look, and you wonder if you would have ever been this close to your child if he didn’t have reflux. And you’re actually grateful.

Lyns that sucks! I hope the solids help. It's nice to be able to just hand Milo a cracker now and let him go to town!

I have to say I love your gym!! ha ha! And now.. I must comment on that sad video :( I love him so much. I just wanted to reach through the screen and try to help you (even though I wouldn't know what to do and probably wouldn't be helping at all.. :) ). Also, I love the "You know you have a child with GERD when" thing... I'm sure it is soooo true! Lyns, you're awesome and I love that you can come to Crest with a smile on your face thru it all... MOTHER OF THE YEAR award!!!! {although I have to say he is VERY easy to love}
